From woodcarving to the digital world – PGDVA students discover the future of crafts through 3D technologies
On October 27, the final information event on the Craft3D project, in which BIC Innobridge is a partner together with 5 other European organizations, was held at the "Josif Vondrak" PGDA. The project is implemented within the framework of the Erasmus+ program, and is aimed at implementing modern 3D technologies in traditional crafts such as woodcarving and woodworking.
Milen Dobrev, Chairman of BIC Innobridge, presented to the students the work of the organization, and how it can help them in their future business ventures. The project itself, along with the developed training materials and online resources, was presented by Lora Dimitrova, an expert at BIC.
Within the framework of the presentations, Prof. Georgi Hristov and Prof. Plamen Zahariev (lecturers at the University of Ruse) presented to the students and their teachers the 3D digitization and visualization activities of the Center for Excellence UNITe (UNITe Project), which was built under project BG16RFPR002-1.014-0004, funded by the Research, Innovation and Digitalization for Smart Transformation Program 2021-2027 and co-financed by the European Union. The activities in the field of additive technologies and digitalization with drones, which are carried out by NG 3.1.3. "Intelligent cyber-physical systems and technologies for generation and visualization of spatial objects and processes" under the project "Ruse Research University", funded by the European Union - NextGenerationEU, were also presented.
At the end of the event, the representatives of Alma Mater invited the students and teachers from the "Yosif Vondrak" PGDA - Ruse to visit the Central University of Applied Sciences UNITe and the University's Research Complex, where they could get up close and personal with the processes of 3D modeling, digitization through photogrammetry, 3D scanning and 3D printing, as well as the application and use of 3D and digital resources for creating products with augmented and virtual reality, hologram systems, computer games, etc.
